A group of radical Republicans voted Speaker Kevin McCarthy out of the House on October 3rd. The vote-out was a culmination of disagreements between McCarthy and eight far-right Republicans. Along with these Republicans, a unanimous front of Democrats ousted the Speaker. This marks the first time a Speaker has been voted out of the House, no less by his party. McCarthy said he would not run again, leaving Republican Patrick McHenry as a temporary speaker. (Shiyo Ohashi)
