This years Spotify Wrapped came out with a new feature: what place listens similar to you? The addition reminds us all that above all, music connects people. More corporations should tie into this theme as the year comes to a close.
Cartoon: Spotify wraps up the year
OpenAI was started as a non-profit to regulate AI advancements and ensure that we stayed safe with our usage. Its object was to keep in humanitys best interests, and it did this by keeping it nonprofit which was controlled by an executive board, and funding themselves from for-profit. On November 17th, the board fired the CEO Sam Altman. In response, 90% of employees threatened to quit their job unless he was reinstated and the board resigned. Altman regained his position.

Tiktok creators are providing a new way to help, by monetizing their videos and putting that money towards aid. Every like, share, and save contributes to food and medical supplies if enough people do it.

Cartoon: Record California heat

Mid-October heat in the Bay Area broke records this past week. San Jose beat a 110-year record, while Richmond set a new minimum temperature bar at just 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Climate Central’s climate shift index map indicated that the heat was caused by global warming–a warning to all of us what might happen in the future if we don’t take action against climate change.
