Carlmont’s own cheer team will be competing at nationals in Anahiem this weekend.
The cheer team has undergone many changes this year. Last year, they did not have an actual coach and did not compete in competitions. The 2010-2011 year has been different because they got a new coach, Jelica Baker.
Throughout this year, they have gotten much better and placed in many competitions.
The team placed third in one competition, which qualified them to attend nationals on the weekend of Mar. 26 through Mar. 27 in Anaheim.
Coach Baker commented, “Cheer has worked extremely hard this year both in preparation for this event and for all the other responsibilities in supporting Carlmont, and any support you can show them is appreciated!”
Sophomore Courtney Heatherington, cheerleader on the squad, said, “I am excited to go to nationals because we have never performed in front of an audience from the whole country and I am also excited because we get to go to Disneyland.”
