Carlmont’s varsity tennis team delivered an absolutely commanding 7-0 victory against Mills High School on Sept. 27, 2012, despite having two of their top players sit out the game to allow open division players to get the chance to play against higher level talent.
Open division players are players that are not a part of the official three singles or four doubles matches.
“We bageled them,” said an elated Morgan Watson referring to the zero matches won by their respected opponent.
Carlmont finished the day winning all but one matches including the official varsity matches and the open division wins.
The Lady Scots are in first place in their division with aspirations of going all the way to CCS after a disappointing loss in the second round of CCS last year. They also finished in second place in their division last season and the team has no thoughts about doing that again.
The Scots, who usually have two matches a week, hope to stay in mid-season form after they passed the half way point in their season. Being in first place has its pressures but the team seems to be up to the challenge.
