Cartoon: Australia vaporizes vaping

The Australian government recently banned the importation of vaping products for two main reasons: preventing minors from obtaining them while still ensuring that smokers have access to them for withdrawal purposes. The measure is drastic yet promising, as pharmacies were not the only vendors before this ban. The objections from some youth and tobacco companies will be a small price to pay for a forecasted decline in vaping and nicotine addiction. (Andrew Shu)

Historically the World Cup pay gap has been extremely unfair, with women receiving less than a third of the men. Last May, the US Soccer Federation announced that they would pool the money from world cup winnings between the men and womens teams and split them evenly. With the Womens World Cup coming up in the summer, the equal pay for the US teams is a big step for gender equality in sports.

Ozempic has become the newest celebrity weight loss trend. Though commonly used by diabetics, the weekly injectable drug results in a rapid loss of fat when used recreationally. It is only a matter of time till Ozempics hype spreads to the mainstream, proving how little the body positivity movement has achieved. The ongoing narrative continues to prioritize thinness over health, but our bodies need nutrients, and we are depriving them of such. When the definition of desired beauty is constantly shifting, its not worth chasing the body shape celebrities are drugging themselves to achieve. (Urvi Kulkarni).
