Cartoon: Flight to extinction

The migratory monarch butterfly is at an all-time low in terms of population this winter and will likely see another constant decline in the summer. Rising global temperatures and urban development and deforestation result in the destruction of their natural habitats as well as milkweed plants, a resource necessary for the survival and reproduction of the monarchs. Humans are the leading cause of the butterflies’ endangerment, so it’s up to us to help fix the issue by supporting organizations that are taking action to prevent the loss of natural habitats.
