The Kahramanmaras earthquake hit Syria and Turkey on Feb. 6. Since then there have been four new earthquakes, accompanied by aftershocks, leaving more than50,000 people dead. Rescuers are still trying to find life in the rubble while 1.5 million remain homeless. The Turkish government is rightfully being criticized for its emergency response, especially due to its inability to provide tents for the homeless. Thorough investigations must be carried out to crack down on the contractors behind the 160,000 buildings that were damaged. (Shiyo Ohashi)
