The United States’s 1-cent coin, the penny has fallen into obsolescence. Currently, the penny is so rarely used that two-thirds of all pennies produced do not circulate. The penny’s worth has also been called into question as the US Mint spends 2 cents to produce every 1-cent coin. Because of these socioeconomic factors, I believe that we should abolish the penny.
