Cartoon: Goodbye, Gasoline

The California Air Resources Board recently issued a proposal to eliminate the sale of natural gas furnaces and water heaters by 2030. This initiative parallels the 2035 ban on gas-powered cars in the state and aims to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s 70 ppm ozone standard. The prospect of a clean air future is compelling, but renewable energy will need to become much more efficient and cheap for it to be a reality.
