Cartoon: Shifting the blame

In his State of the Union Address, President Joe Biden touched on pressing issues, including student debt and the unfairness of the tax system. One comment he made targeted Republicans, where he claimed that the GOP “want[ed] Medicare and Social Security to sunset.” This was one of several triggering claims that prompted verbal protests of the speech from Republicans. Such is the nature of our political party system, wherein even figures like unity-minded presidents constantly shift blame onto the opposition. America’s general disunity only hinders political productivity. (Andrew Shu)
